This family's relocation to Rye led to the dramatic transformation with an updated this transitional kitchen & mudroom by JWH. A partnership between JWH and Manor & Woods brought the critical living spaces to a new level of design.

The natural woods and warm tones in this Easton Connecticul home add an updated touch of rustic elegance. Creamy paint is offset with satin brass on the custom JWH hood and hardware. Taj Mahal quartzite tops the bleached walnut island. Lights by Visual Comfort.

The key to the renovation of this large space is dual islands and multiple work zones. The prep island across from the 36" range holds a second full-size oven and microwave. The seating island is hardworking from breakfast through cocktails. And there is a cozy banquette for homework and meals.

This classic white kitchen is the new hub of this gracious home. The large cooking area and central island allows multiple chefs. The table area with banquette and seating around the new fireplace allow comfortable gatherings for family and friends.

Opening up the spaces to combine the dining room and kitchen gave the JWH Team a clean footprint. The new gas fireplace and salvaged beams warm up the dining area, while the highly functional kitchen space includes a separate clean up area, cooking zone, "command center" and large central island. Mixing in the warm gray/blue paint on the Island and display cabinetry is a beautiful contrast to the crisp white cabinetry elsewhere.

Traditional detailing revived this classic home includes JWH Custom Inset Cabinetry, 2" thick marble slab countertops and matching backsplash, and hand hewn French white oak floors. This Client hired the JWH Team for the complete Design-Build project, from chipping out the basement to creating welcoming guest space on the 3rd floor.

Although a "newer" home built in the desirable Shore area of Old Greenwich, the family spaces just didn't work. The JWH Team redesigned the powder room, large closet, and connecting hallway to the back door to create open yet individual spaces. The new JWH Kitchen includes a coffee/breakfast bar, large island seating as well as a table, and separate work space for Mom and her book collection. The new JWH Wet Bar is tucked discreetly in the Family Room, giving easy access when entertaining, yet able to disappear from site behind barn doors.

JWH's involvement in the early architectural planning stages allowed us to rearrange the spaces before the construction ever began.
